Woods, Howard W., Jr.
Howard was born in Dallas, Texas on August 17, 1932 to Howard Woods, Sr. and Martha Nell Milam Woods of Dallas, Texas. He grew up in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
He held a Bachelors and Masters of Industrial Engineering Degrees from Georgia Tech and worked for the Atlanta Department of Traffic Engineering, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Marietta, Georgia and DuPont in South Carolina. He held a commission as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served as Commander of Company C in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served as Manager of Data Processing and Information Services for Atlantic Richfield Corporation in Dallas, Texas and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Policies for ARCO in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Howard W. Woods, Jr. passed away at the age of seventy two (72) years on Sept. 5, 2004. His wife of forty five (45) years, Janice Watkins Woods from Grovetown, Georgia and daughters Lee Ann (Larry) Carter of Evans, Georgia and Linda Ruth (George) Derrick of McKinney, Texas survive. Howard is also survived by his granddaughters, Kara, Beth and Dana Carter and granddaughter Ashley Derrick.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a good Christian, a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia and a music lover and singer. His love of funny stories, his never-failing wit, intellect and courage will never be forgotten.
